Breathing Patterns
When we practice a holistic lifestyle awareness is key. We often talk talk about body awareness and what it means to be connected to yourself. In order to “connect” to yourself, it is wise to come in contact with a natural breathing pattern, our current muscular tension levels and to be in touch with the way we move our body on a daily basis.
Staying connected with yourself means that you are aware of the sensation off your muscle tension and feeling the sensation of everything that touches your skin. We want to avoid being “spaced out”, instead and we want to pay attention to our in thought patterns and being present and aware in this current moment. Feel where your body is taking its breaths, feeling how your breaths are moving the body.
Breathing is the most natural thing we can do. It is the process where we inhale oxygen rich air in order to fill every cell in our body with its energy.
The way we breath sends signals to our nervous system if we need to be “alerted” in any way or if we can be in a calm “recovery” mode. We want to take long and slow inhalations and exhalations. The optimal length is 7 seconds in and 7 out, if we manage to do that we send the information to the nervous system that everything is ok and that the body can focus on restoration.
Are you holding your breath in our everyday life? Do you feel a sense to do so in order to focus better? Or when you are stressed? To avoid pain? What are your breathing patterns and are you paying attention to them in your everyday life?
Muscular Tension
The muscular system in our body can store a lot of energy in the form of tension and blockages. It works much like an absorbing layer to protect ourselves. Whether it is from physical, emotional or spiritual traumas the body can take the blow and shield us from the event that has passed.
If you make this into a lifestyle of not paying attention to what is actually going on in this context, chances are high that the body may have to withstand way to much blockages and we can begin to overload several systems as a result of this behavior.
Movement and Physical Expression
The speed we move within, the way we stay physically active throughout our days all plays along with how our body perceives itself. And how we shape our brain and nervous system.
Are you always feeling stressed even if you are doing everything in a fast pace? Are you striving to always being highly efficient throughout your days? Or do you feel that life has a faster pace than you would like it to have?
If we change the way we move, we will change the way we live. Find your pace and be intuitive connected to when pace is needed to be altered for a higher vitality as outcome.
