How I heal Hypothyroidism with detox and lifestyle changes.
It is time to adjust my hypothyroid medication again. This will be my third time since I started this process and let me tell you a little bit more about what has let up to this and what my medical journey look like.
Even though it is the third time and that I have had this feeling before, it still takes some time to locate and understand exactly what is going on in my body. It’s a very subtle and unruly feeling of nervousness and stress in the body, much like a vibration. My mind activity increases, meditation gradually becomes harder and I become slightly emotionally unstable and stressed.
I have previously mentioned that I have been challenged with low energy levels as long as I can remember. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism many years ago and has been on medication since then. The medication and a semi-healthy lifestyle made the energy a bit better but never really well. A couple of years ago my doctor also prescribed DHEA to raise my energy levels. DHEA is an endogenous steroid hormone and it is one of the most abundant circulating steroids in humans, and it is produced in the adrenal glands, gonads, and the brain. And boy, did it change my energy levels. For the first time in my life I knew what it felt to have energy. At the age of almost 40 years old. It was amazing!
Although, I had a creeping feeling right from the start that this is a very unnatural way to get energy and I felt that something was not one hundred percent right. I ignored that feeling and enjoyed the vibrant lust for life for a while, and when I decided to go to Chiang Mai to work on my health I quickly decided to start to transition off the DHEA. It took little more than a year to get off it, I did it in three stages and 9-10 months ago (I think, I am not really counting) I came of the DHEA completely.
My body has responded very well to the work I have been doing for the last two years, healing my over all health, organ imbalance, stress and emotional blockages. Part from the DHEA I have also started to transition down my regular Hypothyroid medication (in Sweden called Levaxin/Levothyroxine sodium – a derivative of Levothyroxine). If I eat too much of this medication my Hypothyroidism turns into Hyperthyroidism which is what makes me realize that the symptoms I have been feeling lately is my bodys reaction to eating too much medication. This is also something that I have been discussing with all of the doctors that I have come across over the years and they all have said; “If you get the symptoms of Hyperthyroidism your Levaxin dose is too high and you need to lower it”. By lowering the dose the symptoms also start to fade.
Due to my lifestyle changes since I came to Chiang Mai I have at three occasions experienced the symptoms of Hyperthyroidism and then slowly lowered my medication dose. I have putting in a lot of juice into this Thyroid healing with lifestyle changes, fasting, herbs, tinctures and other supplements. Lowering the medication is fantastic confirmation that what I am doing is absolutely working. Oh happy days!
I was back in Sweden in April and had my yearly check-up done, where my doctor (which is fantastic btw) runs all kinds of test possible and I get page after page with results. It’s so much fun! We also always go through all the tests together and this time he was really amazed and he asked me “What are you doing over there…?” When I started to explain he did not really believe me and did not agree with what I was presenting. And the fact that the results kind of speaks for it self was not something that was taken into consideration. This is a very interesting aspect of the medical healthcare system and I look forward to seeing him again <3
As I am starting to study the detox process more in depth I am learning the down sides with adding supplements and medications. When supplementing the body stops producing the substance by it self and that can have a lot of negative “side” affects. One of the main reasons I decide to go deeper in to my detox at this time is to help my body restore itself after eating the DHEA and Levaxin. It’s time to go deep again 🙂
