Is the process where we come back from an injury, surgery, addiction, trauma and much more. Rehab is also a process of building yourself up from a previous event in life whether it is physical, emotional, spiritual or mental there is always a way back and it may take different times to reach a healthy state again.
Working with a physiotherapist on building up small stabilizing muscles that takes time to strengthen is usually the most common aspect of rehab. Or that someone is working with a clinical therapist to recover from addiction/addictive behaviors.
Rehab is so much more than that! It might be that you work on that old injury that you felt never fully healed, working away from physical pain or building yourself up from the foundation preparing for some more strenuous times ahead.
Prehabilitation is a term often used to describe the process of building your muscle and body tissue strong for an upcoming surgery that most likely will make you lose a lot of muscle strength depending on how long the recovery phase is after the procedure. Prehabilitation can also indicate that you strengthen your body prior to a larger sporting event or a physical contest like a marathon. Preparing your body so that it feels stable and conditioned enough to bear through the process with none or minimal amounts of injury sustained during or after the event.
