Now it has started, ahhhh kind of want to scream or run and hide because…
Emotional Freedom Techniques was created by Gary Craig and it is a powerful tool to restore peace in your autonomic nervous system, brain and body.
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is a mix of energy psychology, exposure therapy, and energy meridian stimulation. In EFT we tap on the body’s energy meridians as we state the phases or aspects that can be perceived as challenging or limiting.
EFT is a way to shift the electrical charge in our brain of our negative emotions/feelings responses in the body related to certain aspects or events in our life.
We tap on points in the body, and tapping sends signals into the brain that calms the brain down (it switches the fear-scanning part named the amygdala off).
The frontal cortex works better at processing emotions.
If we are stressed out about a thought, tapping on the body will calm the body down and let go of the negative effect of the emotion and thought.
It drops cortisol levels and switches the amygdala off faster than laying down. It helps with eating disorders, pts, anxiety, stress, trauma, PNS, pain, chronic pain, asthma.
WHAT IS EFT REALLY ABOUT?
EFT is about relaxing and practicing letting go of the charge of negative emotions and feelings without having to talk about it excessively.
It has helped many people that I have worked with before and you cannot do it wrong. You tap on different points of your body and you use different phrases to let the emotions and the electrical charge of the emotion leave your body.
EFT is a process that clears out negative emotions, feelings, and tension from the body that enable you to feel less triggered and more in balance in your life.
WHY SHOULD YOU PRACTICE EFT?
Because most uncomfortable memories and thoughts are driven by unprocessed emotions, and about 50% of all memories are false.
The memories are not reliable, and they are completely changeable as we release the energy behind the underlying emotion that fuels them.
Human biology and psychology are set up to remember and trigger the “stress response” of what made us feel unsafe in the past and keeps us “alert” not to wind up in the same situation again. This is because it’s trying to keep you alive!
But it’s turning against us now and making us sick and depressed and unnecessarily angry.
When we realize that all humans, including ourselves, are biased towards stress and anxiety, it produces compassion. It’s then easy to turn towards the parts of yourself that are stressed and worried and angry and give them love and thanks. When these parts of ourselves are acknowledged and loved in this way, they start to lose their grip on us and dissolve away.
